Padmavati Movie Review – Hit Or Flop?
Padmavati Movie Review:- Padmavat or the film formerly known as Padmavati fit’s nicely within the precept of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
After all the legend of sultan Allauddin Khilji’s obsession for the queen of chittod, the wife of maharaval Ratan Singh – Rani Padmavati & her preference for the death over dishonor has all the sweep melodrama & tragedy becomes Bhansali’s main stay.
Expectedly he deliver the film richly cinematic but story turns come out has little complex emotional that powered his last film “Bajirao Mastani”
So today we will do the Padmavati Movie Review where we will let you know about Movie Story, Songs, Acting, Rating, Hit or Flop, etc.
Padmavati Movie Story:- 3/5
Based on 16th century poem of the same name by sufi poet Mallik Muhammad Jayasi, Padmavat is preety straight forward tale of ruthless man single minded pursuit of possibly beautiful women that exist. a women stole he can not have.
Except early on the film where aware of misplaced sense of entitlement. “Allah Ki Banayi Hui Har Nayab Cheez Par Sirf Allauddin Ka Hi Hak He ” he says.
Ranveer Singh breaths lifes in the character of the barbaric drunk Allauddin, giving villain’s for the ages.
Shroud, over sexed, unrelenting & eccentric Allauddin is the portrait of his cruelty & most compelling character in the film.
He plays the part with twisted extravagant, it makes hard to look at anyone when he is on the screen.
Sporting long hair, coal in those piercing eyes, facial scars, sex appeal & swagger bad boy rock-star – he is fascinating & repulsive at once.
Allauddin founds the loyal alai Mallik Gaffur played by the Jim Sarbon who is very good in form, who yield to his perversity & reveals equally cruel heart himself .
In comparison the romance between Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) & Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone) only takes his bride after shortly he falls in pray to her beauty & arrow is vanilla at best.
Couples spend too much time in love with each other, starring moonly into each other eyes, making you almost great-full for Allauddin’s introjection when he wages war on chittod & Ratan Singh in a bid to claim beautiest queen.
Now Bhansali shows a spectacular war scenes striking the balance between grand-scale & intimacy.
Their is richness & poetry virtually in every frame of the film. & Bhansali applies the same the lavish approach to staging the Johar scene in the climax.
Padmavati Movie Acting:- 4/5
As Raja Ratan Singh a dignity Rajput king Shahid Kapoor does decent job & he actually looks like real rajput king. this will be one of the best acting by shahid.
Deepika Padukone as a Rani Padmavati looks more good in the second half, when her character slides in the driver seat taking the charge & showing the way.
But, the film belongs to Ranveer Singh as a Allauddin Khilji, who’s stunning performance is the biggest strength. actor keep invested you in the film even after the plot of Two & half hour (2.30 hr).
Padmavati Movie Songs:- 1.5/5
Total 6 songs in the padmavati album which are composed by Sanjay Lela Bhasnali, lyrics by A M Turaz ,Siddharth – Garima. Singer’s are Shivam Pathak, Shreya Ghoshal, Swarop Khan, Arijit Singh, Richa Sharma etc.
But the music of Padmavati is not upto the mark, if we compared it to the “Bajirao Mastani” album.
That we think Sanjay Leela Bhansali should had to work, as no song of the film you will remember after coming out-off theater.
Padmavati Movie Rating:-3.5/5
below are the rating by top websites & critics
- 2.5/5 by The Indian Express
- 2.5/5 by जनसत्ता
- 4.0/5 by Times of India
Particularly ironic given all pre-released protest against Bhansali & film by Karni Sena, diminishing rajput pride.
Elsewhere too, the films become owed to Rajput honor & character are presence around their values.
Yes, off-course it’s worth watching Hit Movie, at-least for the Ranveer Singh’s acting.
